International Delegates Plant Peace Trees in Hanoi
The honored guests of the peace tree planting event were Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Secretary General, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh, President of the Vietnam - America Friendship Association.
The Hanoi People’s Committee representatives were Director of the Department of Construction Vo Nguyen Phong; and Standing Vice President of Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Tran Thi Phuong.

In his opening remark, Director of the Department of Construction Vo Nguyen Phong stressed the significance of the 50th anniversary of the Paris Peace Accord on ending the war and restoring peace in Vietnam.
"The Paris Peace Accord was the result of the resilient and indomitable struggle of Vietnamese people across the country. It created the new turning point in the resistance war against the US and the national liberation of the Vietnamese people," said Phong.
He believed such victory not only brought joy and happiness to the people of Vietnam but also the joy of many international friends and peace-loving people around the world.
"We are always grateful for the strong support of international friends, foreigners regardless of nationality, color, ethnicity, fighting for justice have contributed significantly to the victory of the Paris Conference as well as the resistance war against the US for independence and national reunification by the Vietnamese army and people."
According to Mr. Vo Nguyen Phong, the victory of the Paris Agreement has been empowering the Party of Vietnam and Vietnamese people to successfully realize the goal of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress on foreign affairs and international cooperation. It also improves integration capacity, effectively implement international commitments and free trade agreements; integrated with socio-economic development plans and programs. Hence, it further promotes cultural diplomacy, make practical contributions to promote the country's image and strengthen the country's synergy.
He expressed deep gratitude to the international delegation participating in the peace tree planting ceremony, asking for their continued support to the peace movement in the world.
"We call for the movement to plant trees in your own country, to join hands to build the world a green, peaceful place," said Phong.

Representing the international delegate, Coordinating Head of World Trade Union Headquarters (WFTU), Assistant Secretary General of WFTU Anda Tasaki affirmed:
"Vietnamese people are an example for people around the world in their struggle for determination and for fighting toward democracy."
She also emphasized the wrongly situation of war and violence have never been the solution to international problems. Instead, it must be solidarity of the people to overcome challenges; at the same time appreciate the importance of the celebration in the complicated global context.
