Dr. Nagato Natsume is a person who has a lot of ties and supports for Vietnam. He first came to Vietnam in 1992. Along with JCPA, he has assisted numerous repair surgeries for children with a cleft in Vietnam, doing charity work and activities to promote relations between Vietnam and Japan.

At the appointment ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong said this was recognition of the Government and State of Vietnam for the restless contributions of Dr. Nagato Natsume to the development of the two countries' relations.

The Ambassador Cuong expressed his belief that in the position of Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Aichi, Nagato Natsume will continue to contribute to the promotion of relations between Aichi Prefecture and Vietnam in particular, between the two countries Japan-Vietnam in large.

For his part, Dr. Nagato Natsume emotionally stated that Vietnam is a country where he has a special priority. Over the past 26 years, he has had 200 visits to Vietnam and has conducted more than 4,000 cleft palate surgeries in the country. He expressed his hope that in the coming time, more Vietnamese will come to Japan to work and more Japanese firms to invest in Vietnam.

Also at the ceremony, the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association of Aichi Prefecture was launched on the occasion of the two countries commemorating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1973-2018).

The relationship between Japan and Vietnam is now in the best stage, marked by many important visits by leaders of the two countries, especially the visit of the Japanese Emperor and Empress to Vietnam in 2017.

The governor of Aichi Prefecture said the province now has 200 businesses investing in Vietnam and about 23,000 Vietnamese are living, studying and working in the province. The Governor emphasized this achievement thanks to the contribution of Hirano Yukihisa, former Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nagoya, and Doctor. Nagato Natsume./.
