The opening ceremony of the ITW Lichtenberg language and vocational training school, as reported by the Vietnam News Agency, was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh, along with representatives from training cooperation organizations between Vietnam and Germany, including the Central Acupuncture Hospital (Vietnam) and AVESTOS Group (Germany). Also present were members of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany, as well as various businesses and organizations within the Vietnamese community.
Professor Dr. Frank Deubler, Rector of ITW Berlin, outlined the school's three primary objectives: supporting Vietnamese individuals in learning German, career orientation, and skill training for integration; fostering connections between Vietnam and Germany to create study and employment opportunities for young people; and preserving Vietnamese culture through language classes and traditional activities for the younger generation of Vietnamese origin in Germany.

Phan Cong Nguyen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ITW Berlin, highlighted the school's dual focus on training in Germany while also transferring programs and major codes to Vietnam. The goal is to standardize degrees and prepare skilled human resources for the German market. In 2025, ITW Berlin plans to introduce new training majors, including health care and beauty, and collaborate with the International Construction and Labor Supply Joint Stock Company (Nibelc Group) to train 1,500 workers, with approximately 500 expected to work in Germany. Additionally, the school aims to preserve Vietnamese cultural identity through initiatives in music, traditional cuisine, and other cultural activities within the Vietnamese community in Germany.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Vu Quang Minh emphasized the significant potential of labor cooperation and vocational training between Vietnam and Germany, noting Germany's projected shortage of around 7 million skilled workers by 2035. While approximately 150,000 Vietnamese workers go abroad annually, the number heading to Germany remains relatively modest. He commended the efforts of investors, educators, and the school’s management in establishing training facilities to serve the community and called for broader support from both countries’ businesses and communities to help the school achieve its objectives.
As part of the opening ceremony, ITW Lichtenberg also signed a cooperation agreement with the Central Acupuncture Hospital to advance training and professional development in Vietnamese traditional medicine in Germany. This partnership is expected to play a key role in promoting Vietnamese traditional medicine to both Vietnamese and international audiences across Europe.
