A delegation of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) led by Acting Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan visited the headquarters of the German Football Federation (DFB) to work with representatives of the DFL (the governing body of the Bundesliga) and clubs playing in the highest Germanleague to discuss cooperation and development of football.

Representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) met with DFL - the organizer of the prestigious Bundesliga 1 and Bundesliga 2 to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the DFL’s headquarters in Frankfurt. The event was connected by Next Media company - the current owner of the Bundesliga media rights in Vietnam.

The Memorandum of Understanding focuses on three primary areas of collaboration: strengthening technical and sporting competence in Vietnam, promoting league and club institutions, and developing the Vietnamese football fan base and culture. Parties will share expertise through meetings, training events, and fact-finding visits over the course of the agreement.

DFL will also contribute its knowledge of league and club management, media rights, and product and content development.

The DFL will collaborate closely with its Vietnamese counterparts to provide help and guidance in a variety of sports-related areas, including player recruiting and elite analysis. The DFL will also provide its knowledge on areas such as league and club management, media rights, and product/content generation.

Acting VFF President, Tran Quoc Tuan, on behalf of the VFF Standing Committee, congratulated the DFB Congress on its success on March 11 and sent his congratulations to Bernd Neuendorf, the new President of the German Football Federation, during the meeting and working with the DFB representative.

The two sides discussed collaboration potential in the near future to develop football together, particularly in a variety of crucial categories such as youth training, women's football, coach training, and national team training tours...

Tran Quoc Tuan, Acting President of VFF, stated, "We are ecstatic to be able to formalize our partnership with the Bundesliga, which is without a doubt one of the top football leagues in the world."

He expressed that the VFF and VPF will be able to obtain significant expertise from the DFL and accelerate the growth and professionalization of the domestic game in Vietnam in collaboration with our common partner Next Media.

"We see a wide range of opportunities in our football administration, such as youth development and governance, to incorporate best practices that can help us improve across the entire football ecosystem. Not only our professional football clubs, but also national teams of all ages, as well as the Vietnamese national women's football team, which recently qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup and New Zealand 2023 for the first time," said Tran Quoc Tuan.

Tran Anh Tu, Chairman of VPF, said, "We can see why the Bundesliga is one of Europe's finest leagues after spending the previous several days with executives and administrators from both the league and club offices."

"The DFL's sustainable strategy and commitment to youth development, economic stability, and rigorous corporate governance provide a strong framework and possible role model for Vietnamese professional football to thrive and prosper, which we appreciate and would like the V-League to imitate," Tran Anh Tu added, delivered by VNA.

On March 18, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. CET, DFL, VFF, and VPL, along with their media partner Next Media, will have a combined virtual press conference to discuss the agreement and start the first activations specifically indicated in the MoU.

DFL CEO Donata Hopfen said: “For the DFL, internationalisation does not just mean the distribution of media rights. Our approach is to maintain strong relationships with leagues and associations around the globe – exchanging know-how as well as ideas and working together to better understand what football means to fans in those countries. This is the foundation of our collaboration, and we look forward to the partnership with VFF and VPF.” quoted by Inside World Football.

The DFL and its subsidiary Bundesliga International have already been collaborating closely with Next Media, the VFF, and the VPF to share information and best practices on a variety of areas, including youth development, league professionalization, and marketing tactics. As a result, Next Media has played an important role in the growth of football in Vietnam.

The DFB delegation also expressed interest in Vietnamese football, citing the successes of Vietnamese football in recent years, not only on a continental but also on a global scale. A delegate from the DFB congratulates the Vietnamese women's team on obtaining the right to compete in the Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023 for the first time. VFF's backing is also needed for DFB to gain the right to co-host the tournament. In 2027, along with Belgium and the Netherlands, they will be crowned World Champions in women's soccer.

Furthermore, the expansion of development cooperation between Vietnamese football and German football will be formalized with the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the project "Vietnamese young football talent incubator in Germany," with the collaboration of VFF, Next Media, and Bundesliga, allowing young Vietnamese football talents to train and compete in a leading professional football environment. Germany is unique in the globe.

The meeting of the two federations' presidents yielded encouraging outcomes, ushering in a new chapter in the cooperative partnership between the VFF and the DFB, one of Europe's and the world's leading football federations.
