The Vietnam – Canada Friendship Association (VCFA), a member of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) hosted the Logo Design Competition Award Ceremony on October 30, 2018.

The competition aimed at seeking the official logo for activities to celebrate the 45 years of establishment of the Vietnam – Canada diplomatic relations and the official logo for VCFA.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Health, President of VCFA Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien; Former Ambassador of Vietnam to Canada, standing Vice President of VCFA Nguyen Thi Hoi; officials from state offices and experts in fine arts, graphic designs and architecture.

Among the activities to celebrate the 45 years of establishment of the Vietnam – Canada diplomatic relations and the pre-events for the VCFA IV th Congress (2019 – 2024), the competition attracted massive attention nation-wide, said VCFA Secretary General Nguyen Thi Thu Giang.

126 entries were submitted from 10 Vietnam provinces of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nghe An, Can Tho, Thai Binh, Long An, Thua Thien – Hue, Vinh Phuc, Dak Lak and from Vancouver, Canada.

The Board of Judges spoke highly of the even quality of the entries that unveils the dedication and efforts of the authors and their interest in and support for Canada and the prospering ties of Vietnam and Canada.

The Winner of the Logo for the 45^th anniversary was the group of designers Ho Tu Anh and Tran Ngoc Vuong from Da Nang. Le Quy Hai from Hanoi won the best VCFA Logo.

Noted by Painter Le Huy Tiep, Head of the Graphics Art Council of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the winner 45^th anniversary Logo represents a harmonious fusion of a golden star as the symbol of Vietnam’s national flag and the Canada-characterized maple leaf. The nine-color spectrum in the logo not only exerts an eye-soothing effect but also symbolizes Canada’s pride of being a multiracial, multiculture country. The logo was presented internationally by VCFA in the Vietnam Day in Ottawa, Canada in September.

The VCFA Logo depicts an amalgam of the symbolic lotus flower of Vietnam and the maple leaf of Canada. The delicate, well-balanced, firm layout makes it usable for publications, Tiep said./.
