The event, whose brides and grooms were disadvantaged workers and youths, started at 8:00 a.m. with the attendance of Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Dinh La Thang.
According to Duong Ngoc Tuan, director of the center, this group wedding was an effort to provide help for underprivileged couples who could not afford a big party on their own.
The couples joined a bicycle parade across some streets including Nguyen Hue, Le Thanh Ton, Pasteur, Vo Thi Sau, 3/2, and Le Hong Phong before gathering at the Queen Plaza Convention Center in District 10 to attend the official wedding ceremony.
The mass wedding, the ninth of its kind in the city, has been held annually since 2008 to honor the beauty of a traditional Vietnamese wedding and the spirit of kindness and sharing./.
