Microsoft helps Vietnam's Red Cross Society in disaster management
(VNF) – A conference to introduce the application of information technology in disaster management was held on July 2.

The conference brought together leaders of the Standing Committee on Disaster Management; the Vietnamese Red Cross Society, representative of Microsoft Vietnam, the Red Cross Society International, and Red Crescent International.
The conference was a platform for delegates to exchange experiences in the pilot project “Enhancing application of information technology in disaster management in Vietnam".
In particular, the participants were briefed on the process of disaster response, the organization system of the Vietnamese Red Cross Society at different level.
Specially, an application of IT in disaster management in Vietnam, sponsored by Microsoft Vietnam, was introduced at the conference.
The support of Microsoft aims to ensure effective and timely response of the Red Cross’s team in emergency aid. IT application will be used to facilitate data gathering, report and assessment of losses and demand of the affected community and provide the people with weather forecast.
The introduction and instruction of IT application in disaster management are being implemented in 9 cities/provinces./.
