National Reunification Day marked in Russia

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Vlapostok city on April 23 held a meeting to mark the event.
Consul General Nguyen Hoang Viet highlighted the significant meaning of the April 30 victory in 1975, which helped completely liberate the South, unify the country, and end the US war in Vietnam.
He expressed the deep gratitude of Vietnamese people to Russian war veterans and people, especially those in Vlapostok city and Primorye province, for their valuable support in the most difficult time of the national defence.
He affirmed that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia have been developing with the organisation of various activities on the Russia Year in Vietnam and vice versa in 2019, particularly the erection of the statue of late President Ho Chi Minh in Vlapostok.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Ekaterinburg coordinated with the Vietnamese war veterans association in Sverlovsk to celebrate the day.
Consul General Ngo Phuong Nghi said Vietnam always bears in mind the sacrifice of soldiers and people for the national reunification as well as the invaluable assistance of Russian brothers and comrades.
The diplomat presented medals to five Russian war veterans who had been involved in the battlefields in Vietnam in recognition of their excellent fulfillment of international missions.
On April 28, the Embassy of Vietnam in Russia hosted the final round of a community art contest in Moscow to celebrate the Vietnam-Russia and Russia-Vietnam friendship year./.
