National team chess championships 2016 in Bac Giang province
(VNF) - The national team chess championships 2016 took place in Northern Bac Giang province from June 19th-28th.
The tour lured nearly 200 players from 18 delegations, including Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, Kien Giang, Lam Dong, Dong Thap, Ben Tre, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Dinh, Nghe An, Hanoi, Hai Phong city, Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang city, Can Tho city and the Military. Fans had chance to see famous players like Dao Thien Hai, Nguyen Anh Dung, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung.

Chess players competed in the three categories of men’s team, women’s team and mixed, for fast, standard and blitz events, following 9 rounds in the Swiss system and using Swiss-manager drawing program.
This annual journey aims to evaluate the professional skills of players, as well as create a practical forum for them to exchange and gain more experience, thus identifying the best players for the national squad to play in the upcoming tours in the regional and world levels.
In the final, the Ho Chi Minh city delegation reaffirmed its power by winning five golds in the men’s fast, blitz and standard, women’s blitz, and mixed, standard event. The host Bac Giang bagged two golds in the women’s fast and standard, one silver in the women’s fast, while the Can Tho city delegation pocketed two golds in the mixed fast and blitz.
The 10 best players from Quang Ninh provincial Sports and Physical Competing and Training Centre, bagged two silver medals, including Ngo Thi Kim Tuyen (fast event) and Nguyen Hoang Duc-Pham Thi Thu Hien (mixed double, standard event)./.
