New Cuban Consul General Meets Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee
Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen has said the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba have been constantly fostered and developed over the past six decades, VNA reported Wednesday.

At a reception for Cuba Consul General in HCM City Ariadne Feo Labrada on March 29, Nen said the two peoples have always stood shoulder to shoulder, overcoming all difficulties and challenges together, adding that the Vietnam – Cuba ties are considered a model of a strong and reliable relationship.
The official said he is pleased to see the development of cooperation between the two sides in many fields and believed that with her experience, the Cuban diplomat will act as a bridge, contributing to promoting the cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba in general, HCM City and Cuba in particular, in the fields where Cuba has advantages such as medicine and biotechnology.
He also thanked the Government of Cuba and its people for supporting the administration and people of the city during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nen wished the Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City to successfully complete her term.
For her part, Labrada affirmed that she always has great affection for Vietnam, considering it as her second homeland.
Labrada informed her host on the activities of a number of Cuban businesses in the city. At the same time, she appreciated the cooperation relations between Cuba - Vietnam, in which, enhanced cooperation in the medical field, Cuba's support on vaccines and the transfer of vaccine production technology to Vietnam.
Cuba is ready to support Vietnam in developing the medical sector and transferring medical-biological technology, she said.
Labrada took the occasion to thank the Vietnamese Government and its people for assistance in response to Covid-19.
She believes that Cuba and Vietnam, including HCM City, will promote the good and close ties between the two countries, continue to promote cooperation in the fields of health and biotechnology.
Labrada also shared that with the support and help of Vietnamese side, she will strive to fulfill his duties well during her working term in the city.
Last week, Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue held online talks with President the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández where he affirmed that Cuba wants to enhance economic, trade and investment ties as well as exchanging experience in parliamentary activities with Vietnam.
Cuba highly evaluated Vietnam’s efforts in implementing the dual goal of combating Covid-19 and boosting economic development, he said, adding that Cuba desires to cooperate with Vietnam in the fight against the pandemic based on its current capacity.
The two leaders expressed their wish to bring economic-trade-investment ties to be on par with the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
They agreed to continue increasing the exchange of delegations at all levels in suitable forms; and organising seminars, talks and exchange of experts to share experience in renewal, especially in law-making, supervision, building and perfecting the rule-governed socialist State and deciding important issues of each country.
The top legislators pledged to create more favourable conditions in terms of mechanism and policy for Vietnamese businesses investing in Cuba, and continue promoting economic and trade relations as well as cooperation in the fields where both nations have advantages and potential such as agriculture, fishery, biotechnology and tourism.
