According to VNA, speaking at the solemn ceremony held in Caracas, PSUV Vice President Jesús Faría praised the heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi as a shining symbol of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism. The resolute image of Troi touched the hearts of millions, not only Vietnamese people but also of peace lovers worldwide, including Venezuelans.

Faría recalled the event on October 9, 1964, when Caracas guerrillas participated in the Nguyen Van Troi campaign, kidnapping US intelligence Lieutenant Colonel Michael Smolen in exchange for Troi's freedom. This event was a vivid demonstration of the international solidarity between the Venezuelan revolution and the just cause of the Vietnamese people.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My reviewed the heroic history of the Vietnamese people's struggle, emphasizing heroic examples such as martyr Nguyen Van Troi. He affirmed that the great achievements in Vietnam's national liberation cause were thanks to the efforts of the entire people, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the support of progressive forces around the world, including Venezuela.

During the ceremony, former female guerrilla Nancy Zambrano, who participated in the campaign, shared her memories of the Nguyen Van Troi Campaign. She affirmed that it was the solidarity with the Vietnamese people that urged her and her comrades to be ready to sacrifice to carry out this noble mission.

On this occasion, she expressed her gratitude to the Truth National Political Publishing House for translating and publishing the book "Stories of the Female Urban Guerrilla Fighters of Caracas" authored by her. The book provides valuable information about the Nguyen Van Troi Campaign, helping the younger generation better understand the solidarity between Vietnam and Venezuela.

Nguyen Duc Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, expressed his gratitude and emotion for the special support and affection that the Venezuelan people have for heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi, his homeland (Quang Nam) and Vietnam. He sent his deep gratitude to the Caracas guerrillas who participated in the Nguyen Van Troi campaign.

In 1964, upon hearing that Nguyen Van Troi had been imprisoned by the Saigon government, Venezuela’s Armed Forces of National Liberation (FALN) in Venezuela organized the kidnapping of US intelligence Lieutenant Colonel Michael Smolen in Caracas to demand Troi's release. This campaign marked a profound milestone in the history of Vietnam - Venezuela relations, demonstrating the strong solidarity between revolutionary forces around the world and the struggle of the Vietnamese people.

The Nguyen Van Troi campaign entered Vietnamese poetry through the poem "Remember My Words" by poet To Huu, as a testament to the strong international solidarity:

"The Caracas guerrillas, for you,

captured an American enemy in the middle of the city".
