Norwegian PM joins Hanoi street food event

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg visited a street food event in the intersection of Hang Khay – Ba Trieu nearby the Sword Lake (Ho Guom) on April 17th during her three-day official visit to Vietnam.

The event was arranged by the Norwegian Embassy to celebrate the good relationship between Norway and Vietnam and to introduce Norwegian seafood as a delicious addition to Hanoi’s rich street food culture.

The street food event took place around lunchtime, and passers-by were invited to taste Norwegian salmon prepared by Vietnamese chefs into various Norwegian and Vietnamese fusion dishes.

“Hanoian street food and Norwegian salmon are both world famous,” said Prime Minister Solberg. “It is exciting to see how these two elements from different parts of the world go so well together.”

Vietnam and Norway are both countries with long coastlines and rich seafood traditions. Norwegian seafood is known for its high quality and Norway is the largest exporter of salmon to Vietnam.

In the past, Norwegian salmon has been primarily served in Hanoi’s more expensive eateries, however with Vietnam’s quickly growing middle class, world-famous Norwegian salmon is now becoming more accessible./.
