“Together with the nation’s traditional Lunar New Year Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a great activity so that all branches of the association have prepared plans for a few months and took the initiative to organize celebrations. The Executive Board of the Overseas Vietnamese Association hoped that through games, art programs, gift presentations and rewards, it will teach Overseas Vietnamese children, born and raised in the Czech Republic, of their origins, and encourage them to try harder in their studies,” said Hoang Dinh Thang, Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic.
Actively involved with Overseas Vietnamese Branches in organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival are local Vietnamese women’s clubs, Buddhist associations, veterans associations, youth and student associations.
In small residential clusters which have not established Overseas Vietnamese Branches, women’s clubs, fellow-countrymen branches or inter-family groups will organize Mid-Autumn Festival for their children. In fact, for many years, most Vietnamese children in the Czech Republic have enjoyed Mid-Autumn Festival.
Nguyen Thi Dung, an overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic said after school, the children spend very little time on Vietnamese traditional festivals or games. The event was a good opportunity for them to meet one another, play folk games and nurture their love for homeland.

The Overseas Vietnamese Branch in Pisek and the neighbouring area was one of earliest localities organizing Mid-Autumn Festival this year in the Czech Republic.
According to Mr. Dinh Xuan Vinh, Deputy Head of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic, although newly established for just a year and being a branch without large number of members and strong finances, it and Pisek women’s club have made great efforts to organize a successful Mid-Autumn Festival for their children.
Mid-Autumn Festival in Pisek included various activities such as tug of war, rope jumping, bag jumping, lion dance and art performance.
“We try our best to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for the children so that they who don’t have chance to visit the homeland any time can know how Mid-Autumn Festival is in Vietnam, and create conditions for their parents and grandparents to look back on memories of their childhood, and have a strong attachment to each other while living far from the nation,” Ms. Le Thi Hang, Head of the Vietnamese Women’s Club in Pisek said./.
