The Vietnamese top legislator shared updates on Vietnam's socio-economic situation in 2024. He highlighted the continued stability of the macroeconomy, controlled inflation, ensured social welfare, and strengthened foreign relations, contributing to Vietnam's rising international stature. Anti-corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices remain priority areas with no exemptions.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted that during the ongoing 8th session of the National Assembly, several significant measures are being deliberated to boost Vietnam’s development. These include policies on high-speed rail investment along the North-South axis and adjustments to the investment plan for the Long Thanh International Airport project.

He emphasized the country’s efforts to fulfill the 2021-2025 socio-economic development plan and implement the resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress. Preparations for the 14th National Party Congress and the 16th National Assembly elections, along with elections for People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, are also underway.

Informing them of the homeland’s socio-economic situation, the Chairman mentioned that recently, Party General Secretary To Lam had written an important article on preventing wastefulness and reforming the organizational apparatus within the entire political system. The Politburo has discussed and prepared to implement the streamlining of the apparatus from the central to local levels, to reduce spending from the state budget to invest in the country's development.

He also praised the efforts of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia for their contributions to fostering the enduring “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation” between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc commended Vietnamese businesses, such as the Vietnam Rubber Group, Viettel Cambodia (Metfone), and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) in Cambodia, for their significant achievements. Their contributions generate economic benefits, strengthen Vietnam-Cambodia relations, and foster local socioeconomic development.
