VNF - The 2018 English Olympic Contest for secondary students in Hanoi opened on Sunday, Jan 7.

Over 1,200 secondary school students in Hanoi compete in English competition

Candidates in the preliminary round

The contest, which is organized by Language Link is now in its eight season. This year’s contest also saw the largest number of registered candidates of over 1,209 students from 331 schools across 30 districts of Hanoi.

Similar to previous years, candidates will go through two preliminary and final rounds.

In the preliminary round, 1,209 candidates will take a 80-question multiple choice test in 90 minutes. The test included reading skills, grammatical structures and vocabulary, taking place on January 7th.

The 200 best students in the preliminary round will continue to take part in the final round of four comprehensive skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Exam time is January 28th.

The award ceremony is scheduled on March 11.

Inpidual winners will receive certificates of merit from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and Language Link Vietnam, cash prizes and scholarships to improve their English proficiency at Language Link Academic.

Secondary schools with many contestants will also be rewarded by the organizers.

The organizers said the total prize value of this year's competition was over VND2 billion./.
