Attending the Conference were Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and hundreds of delegates from the ASEAN countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior General Nguyen Chi Vinh stated: ASEAN Defense Cooperation is continuously being expanded in many areas and increasingly effective and practical. In particular, NADI (Network of Asean Defence and Security Institutions) is a advisory channel needs to propose ideas and initiatives to promote cooperation in the areas that the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting is aiming for. NADI should continue to promote its pioneering role in researching, analyzing, forecasting and forecasting threats to national defense and security and proposing solutions to respond and consult to build defence cooperation and security for each country and ASEAN.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Vietnam believes that the contents discussed in this conference will be important consultations to promote defense cooperation, for an ASEAN cohesion, resilience and adaptation with regional geopolitical changes and for a peaceful, cooperative and prosperous Southeast Asia.

This NADI conference takes place from March 3 to March 4, aiming at: Strategic competition between major countries and regional geopolitical movement, opportunities and challenges for the central role of ASEAN; recent global, political and security issues are emerging in the region; defence cooperation for a cohesive as well as strengthen ASEAN's central role in ADMM +.

Over the 13 years since its establishment, NADI has made practical contributions to promoting ASEAN Defense cooperation through recommendations and recommendations to the ASEAN Senior Defense Officials Meeting (ADSOM) and ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM) as well as policy advice to ASEAN Governments.

In 2020, Vietnam represents as the rotating chair of ASEAN, and also marks many important milestones: 5 years of building the ASEAN Community, 10 years of establishing ADMM +, 25 years of Vietnam joining ASEAN. As President of ASEAN, Vietnam has chosen the theme of 2020 as "Defense Cooperation for a cohesive and proactive ASEAN".
