At a talk as part of the ceremony, VPC Chairman Uong Chu Luu said that, in the context that the world is changing to a new rhythm, an important issue is that we need to change the perception of people, especially the young generation about the concept of peace. Today, peace also implies a broader meaning of building a sustainable environment, human security, a just, civilized and harmonious society, and a humane lifestyle for every human being. Recognizing the importance and necessity of a culture of peace in the new era, the Vietnam People's Committee (VPC) has built a Peace Education Programme with the aim of raising awareness about peace and the culture of peace for Vietnamese people, especially the young generation, decide the peaceful direction of the country; thereby contributing to the common peacebuilding of the world. Within the framework of the Peace Education Programme, from the end of 2021 until now, the VPC, with the support of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and localities (Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi) and a number of universities, has organized a variety of activities, such as art exchanges, seminars, peace talks, the establishment of peace clubs at some universities and today, VPC continues coordinating with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ninh Binh province to organize a ceremony to pray for national and world peace. The VPC wishes that this meaningful activity will help spread the values of peace, make the seeds of peace germinate and grow, cultivate a green and everlasting peace; contribute to building a peaceful, prosperous and powerful Vietnam, building a world without war. |
