Phu Yen holds ceremony to encourage efforts of protecting sea and islands sovereignty
The ceremony named "Towards the country's sovereignty of sea and islands" was held to encourage people in the island areas and fishermen who were taking part in firmly protecting the sovereignty and security of the sea border. |
The ceremony aims to celebrate the 13th Party Congress, which will be held between January 25 and February 2, 2021, in Hanoi. The ceremony welcomed Lt. Gen. Do Danh Vuong, Party Committee Secretary, Border Guard Political Commissar; Secretary of the Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee Pham Dai Duong, together with more than 100 officers, soldiers, and fishermen in the province.
The ceremony named "Towards the country's sovereignty of sea and islands" was held to encourage people in the islands areas and fishermen who were taking part in firmly protecting the sovereignty and security of the sea border; actively reaching out to sea, keep working on the sea, protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands, achieving excellent results to welcome the 13th Party Congress.

At the ceremony, the Border Guard Command awarded 16,000 national flags, 5,000 pictures of Uncle Ho to fishermen in order to encourage them to stick on their fishing jobs, to increase production, to contribute to protecting sovereignty over islands. At the same time, the Border Guard Command and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank of Industry and Trade of Vietnam granted gifts to families under preferential treatment policy and poor households; as well as scholarships to students.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Pham Dai Duong affirmed that, over the past years, along with the process of working and producing at sea, Phu Yen fishermen have had effective, creative ways to take the lead in protecting the national sovereignty of seas and islands, contribute to maintaining security and order in the marine border area.
With the gifts of red national flags and the photos of President Ho Chi Minh that were given to fishermen at the ceremony by the Border Guard Command, Duong expected that they would have more motivation to peacefully working on the sea, to increase production, protect the sovereignty of sea and islands. Each boat of Phu Yen fishermen when going to sea is "a living border landmark" on the sea; affirming the Fatherland's sacred sea and islands sovereignty.
