Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc led the Vietnamese delegation attending the event.

Addressing the 10th CLMV Summit held online on the day, the PM pointed out three cooperation priorities for the countries in the time ahead - promptly building a plan to complete targets set in the CLMV development framework; enhancing policy connectivity to facilitate ASEAN’s regional integration; and intensifying connectivity to improve production capacity in farm produce processing and export, and forming regional agricultural supply-production chains, reported the nhandan.

At the summit, themed "Enhancing effective connectivity for regional integration”, the participating leaders affirmed their commitments to deepening the long-standing friendship and neighbourliness for mutual benefits among the four countries.

With the theme “Enhancing connectivity efficiency for regional integration”, participating leaders reviewed the results of the implementation of the 9th CLMV Summit’s joint statement and the CLMV Plan of Action for 2019-2020, especially the implementation of commitments to intensify regional links, improve infrastructure, develop the East-West Economic Corridor, the South Economic Corridor, and the ASEAN Highway, and build competent human resources to post effective economic integration, said VNA.

They also approved a joint statement of the 10th CLMV Summit and a Priority Program, along with a CLMV Development Program.

They expressed their resolve to boost cooperation in order to tap economic potential of the countries and bridge the development gap in the region, contributing to the ASEAN Community building.

Leaders of Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar used the occasion to thank Vietnam for granting annual scholarships to their students, and suggested the country continue with the programme in the years to come.

Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith said: “The Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle has met the aspirations and needs of the three countries in socio-economic development living condition improvement. Infrastructure and regulations have been revised to ensure people have access to resources, education, healthcare, telecommunications, and other services. These results are thanks to mutual support and mutual assistance between the people of the three countries.”

At the previous CLV Summit 2 years ago in Vietnam, the leaders of the three countries adopted an action plan to connect the three economies until 2030 and make the area a growth driver of ASEAN.

Vietnam has worked with the other members to review and develop CLV Development Triangle Planning until 2020, build a group website in Vietnamese, Laotian, Khmer, and English, and help Laos and Cambodia build key cross-border roads, markets, and checkpoints. Vietnamese businesses have invested in 100 projects in the Development Triangle Area.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said:“We’re determined to build a dynamic, prosperous, resilient, and inclusive Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle. The three countries’ Prime Ministers have done their best to enhance the traditional relationship of the three nations.”, VOV reportes.

CLMV countries have hailed Vietnam’s role in soft infrastructure connection. Viettel’s telecommunication projects have connected the telecommunication systems of the 4 countries, particularly its CLMV free roaming program, e-government building, and digital capacity building for economic digitization.
