Prime Minister Hun Sen affirmed on his personal Facebook page on the morning of December 2, that: "December 2 marks the 42nd year anniversary of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland and the landmark that Cambodian lives get rid of the genocidal regime".

According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation was established on December 2, 1978, under his 11B Declaration of Establishment in the Snuol Liberation Zone, Snoul District, Kratie Province. The Solidarity Front was established by a force to unite the Cambodian people both inside and outside the country by Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, Samdech Akka Moha Thomma Pothisal Chea Sim, Samdech Akka Moha Senapadei Techo Hun Sen, and many other brothers in the fight against Pol Pot genocidal regime to regain the regime on January 7, 1979.

The Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation is now renamed "Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodia Motherland", a pioneering people's organization of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), established from a liberated area in Khlou hamlet, commune 2/12, Snoul district, Kratie province. Responding to the Front's call, people everywhere have risen up, gathered into a great national unity force, together with the great support from the Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and international friends to overthrow the genocidal regime, towards a resounding victory on January 7, 1979.

Prime Minister Hun Sen emphasized: "The great victory on January 7, 1979, ended an unprecedented dark period in Cambodian history, opening the gate to a new era, on which Cambodian people regained our freedom and liberation, as well as a chance to rebuild the Motherland”.

Also on this anniversary, the CPP Committee of Preah Sihanouk province sent a delegation led by Mr. Seang Chann, Member of the Provincial Council, Standing Member, and Head of the Inspection Committee of the CPP Committee of Preah Sihanouk Province to the Consulate General of Vietnam to express his deep gratitude to the great merits and sacrifices of Vietnam to support the Cambodian people.

Vietnamese Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly spoke highly of the role of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland, formerly the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation, in the cause of national liberation, construction, and development. Regarding the building and upgrading of the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship monument, Ly called for more attention of the two sides to the work, which, he said, is of special significance. Seang Chann also recalled the formation and development process of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland since its establishment. He emphasized that at any stage, Cambodia's front work could not be separated from the great merits and assistance of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, especially the Vietnamese voluntary soldiers, which will never fade in the hearts of the Cambodian people, including himself personally - as a man who was once helped by Vietnam when he escaped from genocide and joined the Cambodian liberation force since January 7, 1979.
