On the afternoon of October 27 (local time), in the capital Abu Dhabi, during an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife Le Thi Bich Tran, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy, and the Vietnamese community in the UAE.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE, Nguyen Thanh Diep, stated that the bilateral relationship between the two countries is entering a new phase with increased depth and effectiveness, and the community of over 5,000 Vietnamese people in the UAE is thriving.
The growth of the Vietnamese community can be attributed to factors such as the support of the Vietnamese government, the increasing number of Vietnamese professionals, and the growing presence of Vietnamese businesses in the UAE, which has fostered a stronger sense of community.
Pham Xuan Thanh, representing the Vietnamese Community Association in the UAE, highlighted the community’s dedication to preserving Vietnamese culture and supporting their homeland. They have been actively involved in various activities, including Vietnamese language classes and cultural competitions, and have recently raised VND200 million (US$7906) to assist those affected by Typhoon No. 3, demonstrating their strong sense of community and solidarity.

Vu Trong Thu from High Technology University (HCT) highlighted the practical applications of research conducted by Vietnamese intellectuals in the UAE, including the development of seawater desalination technology for Truong Sa Islands and the use of technology to predict landslides, as demonstrated by their work on the Lang Nu village incident.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was delighted with the growth and development of the Vietnamese community here. He appreciated the important contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community in general and the UAE in particular to the homeland and the country over the past time.
Sharing with the community, the Prime Minister highlighted the consistent implementation of an independent, self-reliant, diversified, and multilateral foreign policy, positioning Vietnam as a reliable friend and partner and an active, responsible member of the international community committed to peace, cooperation, and development.
Vietnam is now among the world's 34 largest economies and top 20 trading nations. The country has signed 16 FTAs with over 60 economies, with the CEPA with the UAE soon to be the 17th.
Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries and has strategic and comprehensive partnerships with 32 countries, including all five permanent members of the UN Security Council, all G7 members, and many G20 members. The Communist Party of Vietnam has relations with 253 parties in 115 countries worldwide.

The Prime Minister noted that the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the UAE has witnessed significant progress over the past period. Politically, the two countries have engaged in frequent high-level exchanges, continuously strengthening political trust and laying the groundwork for expanded cooperation across all fields.
Economically, the UAE is Vietnam's largest export market in the Middle East, with bilateral trade reaching nearly US$5 billion annually in recent years. In the first nine months of 2024 alone, trade reached nearly US$5 billion, representing a growth of over 40% compared to the same period in 2023.
The Prime Minister said that the Vietnamese delegation's official visit to the UAE this time is of great significance, helping to consolidate and create a breakthrough in the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the UAE. The two highlights of the visit are that the two countries are expected to officially upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership and sign the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The Prime Minister emphasized that the responsibility of the Government and ministries under the leadership of the Party is to take care of the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in the UAE, with the highest responsibility, to improve the material and spiritual life, position and role of the Vietnamese community abroad, contributing to enhancing the position and role of the country in the international arena.
The Prime Minister believes that, with the spirit of solidarity, and mutual assistance, with the efforts of the community and the help and support of the Embassy, the Vietnamese community in the UAE will increasingly develop, actively integrate into the host society, continue to comply with the laws of the host country.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in the UAE, will actively contribute ideas to the draft documents submitted to the 14th National Party Congress in the coming time, contributing to the country's breakthrough and comprehensive development in the new era - the era of national development.
