Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with overseas Vietnamese in Europe in the Vietnam Embassy to France on Nov. 11.
Chinh said the state and party constantly facilitated thoseoverseas to contribute to the construction and development of the country.
The Vietnamese community in Europe appreciated the prime minister's visit, saying it brought substantive results.
They thanked the party and state's support for the overseas community, especially during the pandemic. They voiced their trust in the strong development and bright future of the country.
Many delegates made proposals to the state, party, and ministries in removing obstacles in investment and creating better conditions for overseas to return and contribute to the fatherland.
The prime minister said he could feel the genuine emotion of the expats who traveled a long way to the event and brought their heartful recommendations for the homeland.
Chinh reminded them of traditional folk stories with profound lessons such as that of Thanh Giong, which was about patriotism, the Lac Long Quan - Au Co story about solidarity, and the Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh about responding to natural disasters.
He said that Vietnamese people and their ancestors had creatively applied and promoted those long-standing traditions.

Vietnam has gone through challenges, great historical events, wars, embargoes, then renovation in 1986.
From a struggling start, the country now has the 4th largest GDP in ASEAN and an average income per capita of US$3,500.
Vietnam holds a new position in the international community and is respected by international friends. He proved the point by showing overseas the results of recent events such as the ASEAN Summits, the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, and his visit to France.
Pham Minh Chinh informed delegates at the meeting about the government's plan to develop master programs on safe, flexible, and effective pandemic control, economic recovery, economic restriction, and green development.
He stressed that the strong Vietnamese expat community has a significant bond with the homeland.
He asked leaders of any country he works with to pay attention and facilitate the community to build stable lives and contribute to the friendship between Vietnam and the host countries.
"It is satisfying to see that Vietnamese people can prove and are complimented our hard-working, intelligent, flexible, and brave nature," he said.
"The more challenging situation we face, the stronger we rise and assert ourselves. That tradition has been raised with patriotism and solidarity throughout history."

Prime minister Chinh said the state and party of Vietnam always considered the overseas citizen an inseparable part and a driving force to develop the country.
This spirit is demonstrated in Resolution No. 36, Directive No. 45, and Conclusion No. 12 of the politburo on overseas Vietnamese, and is institutionalized by the provisions of law.
The party and state's biggest hope is that those overseas continue to promote solidarity while adapting to the host countries, contribute to Vietnam's policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralization in international relations, while deeply integrating into the global arena, proving that Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community.

On behalf of the party and state, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the overseas for their support in developing the homeland, especially in coping with natural disasters and controlling the pandemic. Despite facing difficulties, they are still heading toward the fatherland.
The prime minister said he would ask agencies to work on the overseas' recommendations. He said that those recommendations should be carefully researched to come up with substantive and solutions to create the best conditions for expats while complying with the law.
