Politburo member receives Cuban Women’s Federation representatives
Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilisation, Truong Thi Mai, received a delegation of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in Hanoi on November 1.

The delegation was led by Teresa Maria Amarelle Boue, Politburo member of the Communist Party of Cuba and Secretary General of the FMC.
Welcoming the Cuban guests, Politburo member Mai, who is also President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy of supporting the revolutionary cause of the Cuban people.
The Party official also spoke highly of the working visit and the close cooperation between the women's associations of both countries.
She hailed the role of the FMC in promoting women's movement, gender equality and development of women in Cuba. Currently, women constitute 53.2% of deputies in the National Assembly of People’s Power, 33.5% of delegates to Municipal Assemblies and 51% at the provincial level. Of the country’s 168 municipalities, 66 have women leading their governments, as is the case in nine of the nation’s 16 provinces.
She adding that Cuba's experience in the implementation of gender equity goals is a valuable lesson for Vietnam in order to create more opportunities for Vietnamese women.
Politburo member Mai suggested that the women's associations of both countries continue to coordinate to effectively implement the signed agreements, boost exchanges of delegations and information, and support each other at international forums.

Teresa Maria Amarelle Boue emphasised that the solidarity, traditional and long-standing friendship between the two countries are invaluable treasures of the two Parties and States, which need to be preserved and nurtured among the younger generations.
She affirmed that her country always wants to enhance the traditional solidarity and friendship with Vietnam so as to benefit the people of each country.
She also expressed her gratitude for the support of Vietnam for Cuba and Cuban women in particular, while expressing her belief that under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese people would gain more achievements in the renewal process.
Teresa Maria reiterated that the Federation will closely coordinate with the Vietnam Women’s Union in implementing signed agreements of the two sides at all levels, thus contributing to promoting the special relations and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba./.
