The President's official visit to Chile and Peru conveyed an important message to international friends, especially countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region, about a consistent foreign policy and respect for countries with traditional friendship, including Chile and Peru.

Meanwhile, the participation of the President and the Vietnamese delegation at the APEC Summit Week continues to affirm Vietnam's active and responsible contributions to resolving regional and global issues, especially promoting the process of international economic integration, creating new momentum for regional growth.

Both Chile and Peru pay special attention to Vietnam

Both Chile and Peru have given the President and the Vietnamese delegation a thoughtful, respectful and warm welcome. Notably, in the context that Peru is preparing to host the APEC 2024 Summit Week with many delegations of heads of state and leaders of countries attending, Peruvian leaders have given President Luong Cuong special attention.

Peru has awarded President Luong Cuong the Order of the Sun of Peru, Grand Cross of the State of Peru, and the Honorary Key of the City of Lima. These are the highest awards of the State, Congress and the capital city of Lima, Peru, for the head of a foreign country.

During the visit, many important documents were signed, creating the basis for deepening the relationship with Chile and Peru. These include the Vietnam - Chile Joint Statement, the Joint Statement on strengthening the Vietnam - Peru bilateral relationship and nearly 10 cooperation documents in the fields of defense, agriculture, culture and trade promotion..., creating the basis for deepening the Vietnam - Chile Comprehensive Partnership and the Vietnam - Peru multi-faceted cooperation.

The visit also contributed to deepening political trust and consolidating the good relationship between senior leaders of Vietnam and senior leaders of Chile and Peru. In addition, the visit created new momentum, opening up many cooperation opportunities between Vietnam, Chile, and Peru in many traditional fields and expanding to new, potential fields, such as: innovation, green transformation, digital transformation, climate change response, energy, oil and gas, telecommunications and so on. Particularly with Peru, the two sides will also conduct specific discussions on the possibility of opening a Vietnam’s diplomatic representative office in Lima in the coming time.

During more than 2 working days at the APEC Summit Week, the President attended all activities of APEC leaders, had a series of bilateral meetings with senior leaders of Vietnam's important partners, and exchanged with chairmen/CEOs of large corporations.

Cuong also delivered an important speech at the APEC 2024 Business Summit with the participation of more than 1,000 leading business leaders from the region and the world. In addition to making strategic and innovative proposals to further promote the role and position of APEC in international economic cooperation and connectivity, and responding to challenges, the President also conveyed a strong message about a Vietnam entering a new era, an era of national growth, a dynamic, innovative Vietnam and a leading destination for international investors
