Project Launched to Improve Nutritional Condition for Remote Area's Children in Quang Ngai
About 11,000 children at 62 kindergartens of 5 mountainous districts of Son Tay, Son Ha, Ba To, Tra Bong, Minh Long will benefit from the Nutritional Food Support Program for preschool children in mountainous districts of Quang Ngai province,in the 2024 - 2025 period sponsored by the non-profit organization, Children of Vietnam, with a total amount of more than VND 12 billion (USD 480.800).
The program was approved under Decision No. 429 QD-UBND dated April 5, 2024 of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province.
It aims to help improve health status and reduce the rate of malnutrition in preschool children of school age from 3 to 5 years old; elevate the use of health care and school nutrition services in 5 mountainous districts of Quang Ngai.

At the same time, ensure children's rights to development and participation; improve malnutrition in children, boost child health and prevent illness; create conditions and enhance understanding of the benefits of participating in nutritional food support programs and regular exercise and health care every day; increase responsibility, raise health awareness, and provide health check-ups for children; cultivate parenting skills and knowledge for parents/caregivers.
In addition, the program also coordinates with commune and town health stations and hospitals to organize health examinations and disease screening for about 11,000 children in the mountainous districts of the province to detect diseases early and malnutrition of children for timely intervention measures.
Simultaneously organizing periodic health examinations once a year at schools, including vision examination, refraction measurement; comprehensive eye examination; height, weight measurements, and nutritional indicators; for congenital diseases screening; and financial support for treatment of sick and disabled children, to name a few.
In addition, the program also distributes nutritious food to the schools to prepare nutritious meals for the children with 3 - 5 meals per week.
