On the morning of October 4, the Vietnamese business delegation had a working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany.

Within the framework of the national program on trade promotion and the Vietnam National Brand Week 2023, the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry, and Trade coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany to organize trade promotion programs in Germany from October 3 - October 9, 2023.

Potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Germany

On October 4, the Vietnamese delegation had a visit to the Selgros supermarket system - a wholesale supermarket chain in Europe with 44 systems across Germany, distributing more than 60,000 types of items including fresh fruits, food, beverages, household appliances, textiles, and footwear.

Vietnamese businesses have the opportunity to discuss with Selgros representatives, and learn about the goods import process, distribution methods as well and consumer needs of the German market.

On October 5, the delegation attended the Vietnam-Germany Economic Cooperation Roundtable and the trade program.

Speaking at the event, Vu Quang Minh, Vietnamese ambassador to Germany, emphasized the importance of trade promotion activities and connecting businesses from both sides. He also said that Vietnam and Germany are two countries with complementary economies and have a lot of potential for cooperation.

According to Dr. Volker Treier, chief executive of Foreign Trade at DIHK, economic and trade cooperation between Germany and Vietnam achieved many positive results in recent years, especially after the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam (EVFTA) took effect.

German businesses created about 50,000 jobs in Vietnam and this trend is continuing to increase. This also shows the great potential of the Vietnamese market in efforts to expand and diversify the market and supply chain of German businesses.

Some potential areas of cooperation with great opportunities between the two countries include renewable energy and vocational training.

Boosting consumption of Vietnamese products

On the afternoon of October 5, the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Vietnam Trade Office and the Vietnamese Business Association in Germany to organize an event to introduce the Vietnam National Brand Week and Vietnamese products at Dong Xuan Center in the Lichtenberg district of East Berlin.

The event aims to support and promote the consumption of national branded goods and services as well as connect trade with German businesses, especially businesses owned by Vietnamese people.

On this occasion, Do Viet Ha, representative of the Vietnam Trade Office in Germany, shared with businesses some information about accessing the German and European markets.

At the event, Vietnamese businesses displayed and introduced strong products with export potential, and conducted direct trade with Vietnamese businesses in Germany.

Promotion activities of the Vietnamese business delegation took place effectively, opening up many opportunities for future cooperation.

On October 7, the delegation attended the opening ceremony of the Anuga 2023 International Food Industry Fair, held every two years in Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany. Anuga is one of the world's largest and most prestigious fairs in the field of food and beverages.

With a total area of 284,000 square meters, each fair attracts about 7,500 exhibitors from more than 100 countries around the world, welcoming over 165,000 visitors from nearly 200 countries.
