The Vietnam Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism had a meeting with the French Minister of Culture about the cultural heritage of the two countries.

Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong sent greetings from Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung to French Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot, and thanked her for taking the time to receive the delegation at the meeting on Thursday, in France.

Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin shared the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic to society in general and the culture and art industry in particular. At the same time, she said that France is a country with strengths in preserving cultural heritages, especially in archiving and digitizing heritage records.

France is willing to cooperate with Vietnam in restoration and preservation projects of cultural relics related to French architectural works built in Vietnam. France intends to organize activities such as sharing information, databases, training human resources for heritage conservation, and digitizing databases. At the same time, it is also ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the field of cultural industry through specific projects proposed by the parties.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong said that the Hanoi government has issued a regulation to preserve ancient French villas with a long history, spanning several districts in the capital.

In the near future, Vietnam will conduct two typical projects to restore the Presidential Palace and the Opera House to preserve the country's valuable architectural heritage. The Deputy Minister hoped that France would support experts and valuable archival materials to restore and preserve the beauty of these works.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-France strategic partnership in 2023, the Deputy Minister suggested the two countries consider organizing a series of cultural and art exchange programs to celebrate this meaningful event.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism intends to organize many cultural and artistic activities combining tourism promotion with various forms such as classical concerts, film weeks, and photo exhibitions. At the same time, the Ministry also coordinates with the French Institute in Vietnam, the French Embassy in Vietnam to organize cultural and artistic activities of France in Hanoi and many localities in the country.

Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin supported Vietnam's initiative and agreed on plans to be developed in the near future. She hopes to soon have the opportunity to visit Vietnam to see firsthand how French architectural works are preserved and promoted in the process of socio-economic development.
