The Action to the Community Development Center (ACDC) in collaboration with the Quang Tri Project Management Unit, the provincial Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the first transition house in Quang Tri province.
USAID Vietnam Mission Director Michael Greene joined leaders of Quang Tri province and other partners attended the ceremony.
Located at the provincial Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital in Cua Tung town (Vinh Linh district), this transition house follows the national construction standards approved by the Ministry of Construction and provides opportunities for persons with disabilities to practice their daily living functions so that they can fully integrate themselves into society and lead an independent life.
It includes a kitchen and dining space, bed rooms, toilets and a living room. The facilities are equipped with house utensils and furniture suitable and safe for disabled people, helping them easy to move.
This project is expected to generate positive changes in accessibility for people with disabilities by building sustainable support models for persons with disabilities.
|This model house is where disability accommodation and independent living are introduced to people with disabilities and their families.|
In December 2019, the Vietnam’s first transition house for persons with disabilities was launched in Thua Thien-Hue province.
USAID will support the replication of this model to other districts of Quang Nam province./.
