RoK tops octopus and cuttle-fish imports from Vietnam

The Republic of Korea (RoK) is the Vietnam’s biggest octopus and cuttlefish importer with a 37.7% market share, reported the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).

The Republic of Korea (RoK) is the Vietnam’s biggest octopus and cuttlefish importer with a 37.7% market share, reported the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP).

As of September 15th, exports of octopus and cuttlefish to the RoK were valued at USD110.3 million, a year-on-year reduction of 3.5%. For frozen octopus, Vietnam made up 31.1% of import density in the RoK.

The RoK imports frozen cuttlefish from nearly 20 countries around the world, in which the country imports the most from Vietnam.

As of mid-September, Vietnam’s octopus and cuttlefish export turnover reached USD292.7 million. The second biggest importer of Vietnam’s commodities was Japan at USD71 million, accounting for 24.2% of the total. It was followed by the EU and ASEAN with the density of 13.8% and 13%, respectively./.
