Statistics from the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations indicate that from July 20 to 26, approximately 150 telegrams, letters, and messages of condolence were sent to Vietnam via the people's relations channel. Phrases such as "a loyal communist soldier," "a truly complete party member," "an excellent theorist," and "a simple leader close to the people" are among the praise international friends said about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

In a letter, it was written: As the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam for nearly three terms, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, along with the Politburo and the Central Committee, planned and led the strategic implementation of Party building and rectification. With strategic vision and incisive thinking that is closely linked to practical analysis, the General Secretary has made exceptional contributions, ensuring that the Party remains a truly revolutionary party, embodying "morality and civilization."

Head of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries wrote: "General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is loyal to Marxism. He is the esteemed leader of the Communist Party and the people of Vietnam. He is also a close comrade and a sincere friend of the Communist Party and the people of China."

The World Peace Council (WPC) expressed their condolences, noting: "Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was steadfast in the forefront of the revolutionary cause, undertaking numerous high-level responsibilities, always committed to the Party's decisions, and ceaselessly fighting for the welfare of the Vietnamese people, both domestically and abroad, adhering to principle."

Dr. Carolus Wimmer, President of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association, stated that his insights into Vietnam's political and socialist journey were greatly enhanced by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's work on "Some theoretical and practical issues of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam",

Who elevated Vietnamese foreign affairs

The Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association wrote: “Every person in the Russian Federation knows that Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is an outstanding activist of the international communist movement, a long-time leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who continues the revolutionary cause of President Ho Chi Minh, a tested friend of Russia, a person who studied and researched in Russia. We are grateful to Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong for his tireless work in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam. Members of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association clearly remember the meetings with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong when he visited Moscow. The trees that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong planted in Ho Chi Minh Square in Moscow will preserve memories of his visits to our country.”

Prof. V.N. Kolotov, Director of the Ho Chi Minh Institute at Saint Petersburg State University (Russian Federation), commented: History will highly regard Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong's foreign policy strategy promoting "Vietnamese bamboo" diplomatic identity of and the "burning furnace", which has strengthened the Party's position domestically and internationally.

"Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong's activities have ensured Vietnam's political stability and progress on the path of dynamic economic development, which has enhanced Vietnam's international prestige," Prof. V.N. Kolotov wrote in his condolence letter.

The Japan-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Promotion Council (JVPF) highlighted the role of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in leading Vietnam in an increasingly globalized and complex world with flexible and resilient diplomatic policies, like bamboo.

Leading the country to development and prosperity

Many international agencies highly appreciate the role and contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to international cooperation and the development of Vietnam. Many letters and telegrams stated that: Over the past decade, under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, with a strategic vision, the Central Committee of the CPV has issued many Resolutions on socio-economic development with breakthrough solutions, creating momentum for rapid and strong economic development, recognized by the international community.

In the condolence letter from the International Board of Directors, the Global Leadership Board and staff of ActionAid International stated that: the General Secretary's leadership has helped Vietnam reach many achievements and enhance its mettle and internal strength. The letter said: “Vietnam has become one of the 35th largest economies in the world, in addition to ensuring that Vietnam's human development index has continuously increased in recent years, showing the correct orientation of the Communist Party of Vietnam in harmonizing sustainable economic development without leaving anyone behind.”

Men Sam An, President of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association, in a letter to the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association, said: “We highly appreciate the great work and achievements that the General Secretary has brought to Vietnam, his tireless dedication in making Vietnam an economically developed country with increasingly high prestige in the international arena, especially in promoting good governance and fighting corruption.”

The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Foundation emphasized: “The General Secretary’s leadership has played a key role in shaping the progress and prosperity of Vietnam. The General Secretary’s passing is not only a great loss to the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people but also to the leftist movement worldwide because his steadfast commitment to the principles of socialism and his tireless efforts for the development of an increasingly better Vietnam have left an indelible mark.”

ActionAid International (AAI)/ Netherlands wrote in a letter to the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong “is an example for leaders of global people's organizations because of his simplicity, closeness and exemplary character”.

President of Venezuela - Vietnam Friendship Association Carolus Wimmer recalled the memory of his first meeting with the General Secretary at the meeting of the World Peace Council Executive Committee Meeting, held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 23-25 November 2017. "He radiated calmness, wisdom, an analytical eye, and great sympathy when welcoming the foreign guests", Dr. Carolus Wimmer said.
