Singapore International Foundation Seeks Answers for Vietnam's Health, Culture, Water Issues

At a meeting with Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga - President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) on July 7, Singapore International Foundation (SIF) Executive Director Jean Tan said SIF was seeking opportunities to cooperate with Vietnam in the fields of health, culture, and water resources. These will be specific activities to strengthen people-to-people diplomacy and mutual understanding between the two countries, said she.

Jean Tan thanked VUFO for awarding the "For peace and friendship between nations" medal to the President of SIF and herself in 2022, recognizing the positive contributions of SIF's activities in Vietnam. This is a testament to the close cooperation between SIF and VUFO and the People's Aid Coordination Committee (PACCOM, a unit of VUFO) to further promote the people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and Singapore.

Jean Tan said that during this trip, SIF looks to work with Vietnamese partners in the fields of health, culture, and water resources. SIF cooperated with Tan Tock Seng Hospital (Singapore) and Hanoi Medical University to implement the program "Improving medical capacity in artificial kidney". It will soon implement cooperation in professional training with Cho Ray Hospital - Ho Chi Minh City. SIF has also worked with a number of NGOs in Vietnam to learn about opportunities to support localities facing difficulties in accessing clean drinking water.

In addition, SIF wishes to explore cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese partners in the fields of culture and art, museums, libraries, and event organizations. She hopes these will be activities. concrete actions to strengthen people-to-people diplomacy and mutual understanding between the two countries.

For her part, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga highly appreciated SIF's contributions in the fields of health, poverty eradication, and cultural cooperation. SIF's activities are professional, effective, and creative, attracting the attention of young people and playing an important role in promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Singapore is an important partner of Vietnam. In 2023, the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership. This is an occasion for VUFO and SIF to cooperate in specific activities.

Over the past time, the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association with its talented team and many good initiatives has been an effective focal point to connect VUFO and SIF. In addition, VUFO has 116 member organizations, including 52 local friendship unions, the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM) in charge of foreign NGOs, and the Institute of International Studies and People-to-people Affairs. Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga hopes that in the coming time, VUFO and SIF will cooperate and connect with each other more closely.
