After enjoying a traditional Vietnamese dinner, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong strolled around Hoan Kiem Lake walking street, visited some monuments and interacted with the people.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong tried Hanoi’s cuisine and took a stroll on the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake at the heart of the capital city on August 27 evening right upon his arrival, VNA reported

Lee is paying an official visit to Vietnam at an official invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh.

He and the Singapore high-ranking delegation had a relaxing time walking around Hoan Kiem Lake street.

Dressed in casual attire, the Prime Minister of Singapore enjoyed witnessing outdoor activities on Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street.

Along the busy road from Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square to Ngoc Son Temple, he sometimes stopped to take pictures of the streets of Vietnam's capital. Crowded restaurants, Ba Kieu temple, Ngoc Son temple, scenery, and people's fun activities were all taken by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong with his phone.

On his stroll, the Singaporean leader visited and offered incense at Ngoc Son Temple's national relic site - one of the very famous destinations of Hanoi. He and Singaporean officials listened to the introduction about the legend of Sword Lake, visited the shrines in the temple, and viewed the specimen of the Ho Guom Turtle.

Before that, the Prime Minister of Singapore visited a restaurant in Hanoi specializing in Vietnamese cuisine on Yen The Street (Ba Dinh) for dinner. This restaurant just received a Michelin star in June.

The head of the Lion Island nation is quite fond of rustic dishes, many times he dines at local restaurants in a very natural way. During his visit to Vietnam a few years ago, he also experienced a restaurant specializing in traditional cuisine.

Right upon his arrival, PM Lee posted a status on his personal Facebook page “Xin chao from Hanoi! I am in Vietnam for an Official Visit at the invitation of PM Pham Minh Chinh”.

“This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries, and the 10th anniversary of the Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Partnership. Beyond diplomatic relations, Singaporeans and Vietnamese also share many common interests, such as a love for good food,” he shared.

Meanwhile, PM Pham Minh Chinh’s spouse Le Thi Bich Tran, and Singapore PM’s spouse Ha Tinh on August 28 visited the Vun Art Cooperative in Van Phuc Silk Village in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District.

The two spouses of the two Prime Ministers had a chance to make mosaics of the iconic lion of Singapore, and Ha Long Bay of Vietnam.

This is the fifth visit to Vietnam by the Singaporean leader, showing the closeness and cohesion between the two countries.

Accompanying the Singaporean PM are his wife Ho Ching, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng.

It is also among a wide range of activities in celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership. On this occasion, Lee will attend many important activities and events.
