South African Ambassador honoured with friendship insignia
(VNF) - On December 1st, in Hanoi, the outgoing Ambassador of South Africa to Vietnam Kgomotso Ruth Magau was honoured with the “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” insignia of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) at the end of her term in Vietnam.
The insignia is the highest award recognises inpiduals and organisations that have made significant contributions to consolidating and strengthening friendship between the Vietnamese nation and other nations for peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
Attending the ceremony were Don Tuan Phong, VUFO Vice President in-charge and General Secretary; Do Duc Dinh, Vice President of the the Vietnam-Africa Friendship and Cooperation Association (VAFCA) and representatives of the South African Embassy in Vietnam.

Presenting the insignia to the Ambassador at the ceremony, VUFO Vice President in-charge and General Secretary Don Tuan Phong said the award aims to acknowledge the diplomat’s contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the people of Vietnam and South Africa as well as other African countries over the past years.
Ambassador Kgomotso Ruth Magau has worked closely with the VUFO and the VAFCA in people-to-people exchange activities and friendship meetings such as the Africa Day and celebrations of the anniversary of the Southern African Development Community. The Ambassador also enthusiastically participated in events held by the VUFO.
He hoped that the diplomat, in any position, will make more contributions to consolidating and developing the bilateral relationship; will always remember Vietnam and see the country as her second home.

For her part, Ambassador Kgomotso Ruth Magau said she was honoured to receive the insignia, the highest decoration of VUFO, expressing her belief that ties between the two countries will continue to expand, and pledged to do her best in any position to contribute to bilateral ties./.
