The US and South Korea planned their annual military exercises on Monday as in their schedule despite North Korea’s pressure.

An officer of South Korea’s Defense Ministry shared the purposes of the military drills "Our joint exercise to verify (Seoul's) capabilities for its envisioned retaking of wartime operational control is being prepared."

North Korea expressed its “solemn warning” to take nuclear and missiles tests if the US and South Korea keep holding their military exercises and South Korea buy F-35 fighter jets from the US. North Korea had launched series of missiles tests in one week.

Particularly, they recent blasted the third missiles, as they labelled a new "large caliber multiple launch guided rocket system" tests. However, South Korea identified those were “a new type of short – range ballistic missile”.

Although the Trump administration said the North Korea’s missiles tests were “pretty standard” and did not violate the pledge, it gave no words whether the joint military drills with South Korea would take place or not.

This South Korea – US military exercises could affect the progress of "denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" after the two leaders agreed to restarted the nuclear talks in the meeting in Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) because North Korea constantly expressed its hope not to see the joint military drills of the US and South Korea.
