Special Colombian Art Exchange Program in Hanoi

The Colombian Embassy in Hanoi in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism successfully organized a special Colombian art exchange program in Vietnam on July 20 on the occasion of the 212th anniversary of Colombia's Independence Day.

Attending the program were ambassadors, heads of representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations in Vietnam, representatives of leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a number of agencies, a large number of audience and art lovers in Vietnam.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Colombian Ambassador Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Melo shared his joy on the occasion of the 212th Anniversary of Independence Day, as well as Colombia's socio-economic development achievements.

The diplomat affirmed that Colombia is very interested in developing friendly relations and cooperation with Vietnam in many fields, especially culture and education.

Nguyen Phuong Hoa, director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) congratulated Colombia's Independence Day; highly appreciated the Embassy of Colombia in Vietnam and personally Ambassador Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Melo in recent years has had many initiatives and successfully organized activities to promote and introduce the country, people, cultural exchange event, Colombia tourism in Vietnam.

In the context that the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause unpredictable difficulties and challenges, the 2022 Colombian art exchange program in Vietnam is one of the important activities to celebrate the 212th Independence Day of the Latin American nation, and at the same time demonstrating the determination and efforts of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Colombian Embassy in Hanoi to promote the role of culture and art as a bridge between the two countries, strengthening the cohesion, friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

The Colombian art exchange program in Hanoi introduced famous singer-songwriter Elkin Robinson with unique works of different styles such as mento, calypso, polka or folk, with warm and fresh melodies inspired by the Colombian Raizal culture, the Creole language, the Caribbean music, the people and nature of the homeland, the country of Colombia.

Elkin Robisnon performed works he has performed on domestic and international stages such as: Heaven on the Mountain, Change, Sun a Shine, Come Around, among others. He also collaborated with Vietnamese pianist Nguyen The Vinh at the program.

Vietnam and Colombia established their diplomatic ties on January 1, 1979. The relations have developed continuously over the past more than 40 years. Two-way trade surpassed USD 640 million in 2020, with Vietnam shipping engines, machinery, electrical equipment, footwear, aquatic products, garment-textile and metal wires worth USD 622.5 million to Colombia.

Meanwhile, Vietnam imported timber and wooden products, foodstuff, leather, organic chemicals and rare metals from the South American country.
