The two parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bilateral comprehensive strategic relationship till 2030 in a joint statement produced following the talks.

Both sides shall work together to ensure security, safety, and unrestricted navigation and overflight, as well as unrestricted trade.

They advocate for self-control, avoidance of force, and threats of force, and the peaceful resolution of conflict between relevant parties in accordance with international law's common principles and standards, such as the UN Charter and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The visit to Russia by Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc was impressive, according to Andrey Vladimirovich Yatskin, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, "helping both countries make a comprehensive analysis of the achievements and sketch out future plans to further accelerate bilateral ties across many sectors."

Yatskin said that the Vietnam-Russia relationship was experiencing a period of strong growth and a need to be reinforced.

Simultaneously, the two nations have enjoyed strong scientific cooperation, with Russian atomic business Rosatom financing the construction of an atomic science and technology center in Vietnam.

Furthermore, as information security is a strength of Russia, the two sides have strong potential for cooperation in this area, he said, suggesting that both sides make digital economy a new pillar of cooperation.

Covid-19, according to the legislative head, is a test for bilateral ties, and Vietnam and Russia have backed each other up.

He pointed out that Vietnam was one of the first countries in Southeast Asia to allow the use of the Russian-made Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine, as well as one of the first to produce it.
