The 3m tall bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh is placed on a 1.5m high pedestal. The President is shown as sitting solemnly, with his right hand holding a book - a posture described by the designers as "dynamic in stillness," symbolizing his profound ideological insights during his journey to Russia.
Speaking at the event, Governor of St. Petersburg Alesander Beglov said the inauguration of the statue of the late Vietnamese President in the city is a gesture of profound respect and remembrance for one of the greatest figures in history, a bright example of patriotism and national heroism, VietnamPlus reported.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said that the statue will serve as a new symbol of friendship between the two countries and will become a prominent destination for Vietnamese guests, Russian and international friends.

Earlier, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen visited and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Ho Chi Minh Museum at High School No. 488, near the Ho Chi Minh statue.
100 year ago, on June 30 of 1923, during his national salvation journey, Nguyen Ai Quoc (pseudonym of President Ho Chi Minh) first set foot in Petrograd, now Saint Petersburg city of Russia, and stayed there until the beginning of October 1924.
Thanks to their experiences during their period of living and studying in the Soviet Union, Nguyen Ai Quoc brought the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people to a glorious victory.

Earlier, Nen had a meeting with Governor Alexander Beglov and Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Belsky of St. Petersburg, VietnamPlus reported.
Beglov the St. Petersburg authority is moving to update the cooperation roadmap with Ho Chi Minh City, and the operator of the Pulkovo airport is speeding up the opening of a direct air route linking the city with Vietnam, thereby helping to increase the number of tourists and open up new business opportunities.
For his part, Nen showed his wish that St. Petersburg will share experiences in capacity building in cybersecurity, digital platform application, and digital technology.
Ho Chi Minh City is willing to intensify cooperation promotion activities, and enhance understanding and closeness between the two cities, he added.
