Politburo member and Secretary of Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee Dinh La Thang on May 12th held talks with Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Committee of China’s Shanghai city Han Zheng, who is leading a delegation from the Chinese Communist Party to visit Vietnam.

During the talks, Dinh La Thang expressed his belief that the Chinese delegation’s visit would help reinforce the traditional friendly and comprehensive cooperative relations between the two Parties and States in general, and between Vietnamese localities and Shanghai city in particular.

According to Secretary of the Party Committee of China’s Shanghai city Han Zheng, the visit’s purpose was to reinforce the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and China, especially between Ho Chi Minh city and Shanghai city, thus promoting the development of the comprehensive partnership and cooperation between China and Vietnam.

Han Zheng added that the two cities had established a relationship 20 years ago, expressing his hope that Dinh La Thang and Ho Chi Minh city leaders would raise the cooperative relations to a new height.

After the talks, the two Secretaries and the delegations from both sides witnessed the signing of cooperative agreements, including the agreement on increasing friendly cooperation between Ho Chi Minh city and Shanghai city; a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on friendly cooperation between the Ho Chi Minh city External Relations Department and the Shanghai city Authority External Relations Department; a MOU on education cooperation; and an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation./.
