Strengthening Cooperation Between Thai and Vietnamese Businesses

Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) welcomed the delegation of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association to visit and work in Vietnam on September 19. The delegation was led by Sanan Angubolkul, president of the Association.
President Nguyen Phuong Nga said: Vietnam and Thailand have a long history of relations, many similarities and the two peoples have friendly relations. The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations supports and acknowledges the agreements and cooperation results between the friendship associations of the two countries.
In economic cooperation, Thai businesses have come to Vietnam early. The activities of Thai businesses have made important contributions to the mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples and economic development.
The Vietnamese market still has a lot of potential for Thai businesses to exploit.
"We hope that the President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association and members of the Association will advise Vietnamese businesses to increase investment and market for Vietnamese goods.
We want to get experience in economic development in rural Thailand, sustainable agricultural development, learn about King of Thailand's philosophy of sufficiency economy that is relevant to Vietnamese practice," she said.
President Nguyen Phuong Nga suggested that the two associations continue to organize cultural exchange activities between the two peoples, and introduce Thai culture, art, and traditional customs to the Vietnamese people and vice versa.
She suggested that the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Thailand. This allows them to promote their role as a bridge and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
She also wanted the association to support so that more Vietnamese students will come to study in Thailand.
In 2023, the two countries will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership. The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations wishes to have practical activities to celebrate this important event.
According to data from the Foreign Investment Department (Ministry of Planning and Investment), as of December 31, 2021, Thailand had 645 valid projects with a total registered capital of over US$13 billion. Thailand ranks 8th out of 140 countries and territories having foreign investment in Vietnam, and ranks 2nd among ASEAN countries investing in Vietnam, after Singapore. The average project size is US$20.1 million/project, higher than the average project size of US$11.8 million/project. |

Speaking at the meeting, the President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association Sanan Angubolkul said that the Association will promote its views and policies in cooperation with Vietnam.
Well aware of the role of people-to-people diplomacy, the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association invited overseas Vietnamese in Thailand to join the Association.
They also planned to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Sanan Angubolkul said that Thailand is currently implementing the "Vietnam first" policy. When Thai investors seek to invest abroad, the Association advises on Vietnam destinations.
Thailand also wants to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in tourism, education, training, and culture.
The Association will continue to provide scholarships for Vietnamese students to study in Thailand and wish to send Thai students to study in Vietnam.
Currently, Accenture Group (Thailand) operating in technology consulting has asked to coordinate with the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association to promote Vietnam's technology talents.
Sanan Angubolkul also said that the suggestions and proposals of the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will be implemented by the Association in the near future.
On the afternoon of September 19, welcoming the delegation of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu said that Thailand continues to maintain its position as the largest trading partner of Vietnam in ASEAN and is currently one of the top 10 most invested countries in Vietnam. Cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges have developed, and are considered by the two governments as one the important pillars of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand. Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu suggested that the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association continue to carry out various activities in economy, culture, society, and technology. He wants the Association to make contributions to enhancing people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, especially creating conditions for businesses of the two countries to meet, and cooperate in trade and investment. He wished the Association would continue to create favorable conditions for the Associations of Thai people of Vietnamese origin. This allows them to promote their role and contribute more to friendly exchanges between the two countries. |
