This is an activity on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia.

The event aimed to introduce an overview of education, vocational training and job opportunities in Australia to students of universities, colleges and vocational schools in Hanoi city.

Vietnamese students were introduced and consulted about education, vocational training, settlement opportunities and Vietnam-Australia cooperation by representatives of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, Australian universities and educational organizations.

Speaking at the event, Jennifer Bahen, education and research counselor of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam said that from the beginning of 2023 until now, many activities with a focus on education have been organized.

Currently, Australia has about 40 public universities in charge of training and research, 130 private schools specializing in training, 30 public vocational training establishments and thousands of private establishments for students.

When participating in vocational training programs, students will be taught vocational skills through observation and practice.

Teachers do not necessarily have to have a university degree but are required to have practical work experience and need to be certified with vocational training by the place where they work.

Training facilities also have close cooperation with businesses. Businesses will create vocational training programs and may add additional requirements or content throughout the training process depending on the actual situation.

Currently, Vietnam has about 25,000 students studying at universities in Australia and this number is even larger after Australia removed restrictions to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jennifer Bahen believed that although the number of Vietnamese students studying in Australia in the field of vocational training is still modest, Vietnam has a high growth rate both economically and socially, so this number will certainly increase in the future.

Affirming that Australia is always open to Vietnamese students, Jennifer Bahen said that the Australian Embassy will carry out many promotional activities at schools and consulting companies soon.

According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Australia Friendship Association in Hanoi Nguyen Ngoc Quang, the discussion is an opportunity for teachers and students to learn more information about education, learning opportunities, as well as jobs in Australia.

He hoped this would be a bridge for Vietnamese students to realize their potential, thereby expanding their own learning opportunities.
