In her speech, Consul General Vu Chi Mai affirmed that semiconductors are a field that plays an important role as a technological foundation for essential manufacturing industries from information technology, automobile manufacturing, and medicine to energy and communication.

To improve international competitiveness, Vietnam needs to develop advanced technologies and build an ecosystem that supports innovation, from research and development to production and application. The cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in this field is extremely meaningful, Mai stressed, as Japan has a wealth of experience and high technology in the semiconductor industry, ready to share knowledge and techniques with Vietnam.

With the close cooperation of the Japanese Government, Mai believes that this symposium will be an important step, opening up new directions and solutions to develop Vietnam's semiconductor industry strongly in the coming time.

On the other hand, Omagari Akie, Deputy Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, said that in Kyushu in general and Fukuoka Prefecture in particular, the semiconductor industry is thriving with about 1,000 companies involved in many aspects of semiconductor manufacturing. Fukuoka Prefecture became the first in the country to open the Fukuoka Semiconductor Retraining Center in August 2023, aiming to strengthen human resources in the semiconductor industry in Kyushu and Japan, contributing to the strong development of the semiconductor industry and engineering-related industries.

Also, Fujishima Yasuyuki, Chairman of the Foreign Human Resources Support Organization in Japan (HuRedee), recalled the process of formation and cooperation between Huredee and Vietnamese universities in training quality human resources, including in the field of semiconductors. Fujishima Yasuyuki hopes that, through open and constructive dialogues, the Workshop can conclude on future cooperation activities.

One of the highlights of the program is the signing ceremony of the Joint Declaration on Vietnam-Japan cooperation in semiconductor human resource development between Kyushu University, the Human Resource Development and Employment Organization with the University of Science and Technology, the University of Transport and the University of Information Technology of Vietnam on October 29.

On October 30, the program continued at Chikushi Campus, Kyushu University.
