In October 2022, Vietnam-Kazakhstan had a direct flight for the first time. People of the two countries only need 9 hours to fly instead of nearly 20 hours with many connecting flights like before. The success of the direct flight and achievements in people-to-people exchanges between the two countries were contributed by Yerlan Baizhanov, ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam.

These close American friends regularly work with the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-US Society on measures to improve relations between the two countries and the two peoples.

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) awarded the "For peace and friendship among nations" medal to Caitlin Wiesen - Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Vietnam in Hanoi on August 24.
