33 University of Adelaide students were the first New Colombo Plan scholars returning to Vietnam after a two-year interruption of the program due to Covid-19.

According to the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, in 2020, 677 students from 22 Australian universities will visit Vietnam to undertake study and work-based experiences through 47 different projects under the New Colombo Plan.
