The Republic of Korea (RoK) considers Vietnam one of its most important partners in the region, and wishes expand the bilateral relations in diplomacy and economics, and to continue boosting defence ties, particularly in defence industry, Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said on March 29.

For Vietnam, building and strengthening national defence capacity is to safeguard its Fatherland, protect peace and ensure the welfare for its people.

Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang on June 10 met with his counterparts from Singapore, the US and Canada on the sidelines of the 19th IISS Shangri-La Dialogue.

Genera Phan Van Giang was appointed Minister of National Defense at the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly on April 8, 2021. He was promoted from the rank of Senior Lieutenant General to General in July, 2021.
