"The Great Inca Road" exhibition takes place from October 21-26 at Hoan Kiem pedestrian street. The photo exhibition of the historic “Qhapaq Ñan” road system consists of 28 photographs, representing the outstanding features of the ancient Inca road construction techniques. Qhapaq Ñan is the most extensive and advanced road system, built during the Inca (pre-Columbian) empire. The system runs through South American countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, where Cusco, the former capital of the Inca is located. The ancient transportation system of the Tahuantinsuyo Empire (Inca) stretched for more than 60 thousand km, including nearly 23 thousand km lying in the territory of Peru. To this day, the road system is still preserved and used by the Peruvian aborigines living in the surrounding areas. |
