Topas Ecolodge (Lao Cai) listed in world top 21 green accommodation by National Geographic
(VNF) - "Sustainable, spectacular, and engaged with local communities, these lodges are tucked into some of the planet’s wildest places", that's what the National Geographic says about its top 21 of green accomodation in the world, including the Topas Ecolodge in Lao Cai, Vietnam.
The list was compiled by winning travel writer and editor at large for National Geographic Traveler magazine Costas Christ. "From a handful of rustic lodges committed to conservation back in the early 1990s, sustainable tourism is now transforming the global travel industry, and in the process helping to safeguard cultural and natural heritage, support environmentally friendly practices, and deliver economic and social benefits to local people."
According to Christ, Topas Ecolodge is an amazing mountain hideaway.
The accolade comes just prior to Topas Ecolodge opening a new infinity pool with spectacular views. Each bungalow at the resort, built of white stone, has a large terrace overlooking mountains and terraced rice fields.
Situated on a beautiful hilltop deep in the mountains of Hoang Lien National Park, it takes tourists only 45 mins of motor-ride to travel from Sapa town to Topas Ecolodge.

At an elevation of 1,500 meters (4,921 feet) above sea level, Sapa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai is known for its terraced rice fields and trekking trails. The harvest season in October is amazing for both sightseeing and trekking, with beautiful yellow rice paddy fields./.
