Two additional provinces set up Departments of Tourism
On March 31st, the final session of the 5th Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Council (tenure 2011-2016) has approved a Resolution establishing the Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism.
Accordingly, the establishment of the department is based on separating and consolidating the tourism managing pision from the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in order to ensure state management for the field which is developing rapidly and suitable to the overall planning for Vietnam’s tourism development by 2020, with a vision to 2030.

Under the Resolution, the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee will be responsible for assigning the organization apparatus, duties and specific authority of the Department of Tourism, and change the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism into the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture and Sports.
On the same day, the 18th session of the 8thth Kien Giang People’s Council issued a Resolution to set up its provincial Department of Tourism. Accordingly, the Department of Tourism is directly under the Kien Giang People’s Committee on the basis of separating the function, duties, and organization mechanism of tourism from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The founding of Kien Giang Department of Tourism aims to focus on studying, promoting and tapping the province's potential and strength to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector, and contribute to speeding up the province’s socio-economic development./.
