"I love pangolin friend. We love you very much, binturong. These words that 5-year-old children often said to their teachers after one day experience the "Valuing Nature in Childhood" Program. After three years of implementation, the program had organized 236 trips for 5897 children, together with 1078 teachers and parents.” Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Nga, School Program Leader shared.

At the workshop, participants reviewed the results of three-year implementation and discussed the options for program development in the following academic years. The teachers and parents both agree on the meaning of the program to the comprehensive development of physical, emotional of children, as well as the desire to develop the program to children of different ages.

With the expectation that the program can continue operating and replicating the model to many schools, provinces and national parks throughout the country, the Center designs a minimum cost table for each child of VND 250,000, including cost meals, car rental, insurance, travel expenses and other logistics, with each trip of the experience of up to 30 grandchildren. The school and parent association representatives will continue to review and discuss to make the best plan, appropriate to the conditions of parents and the school.

Ms. Bui Thi Lien, Representative of Education Department, said: ‘The program brings positive changes in children, as they start to care about nature, animals and their surroundings, children become more active after participating. They often talk about what you have learned from the trip with friends, teachers, and family. We look forward to having more and more children participating in this meaningful program in the future.’

‘We all hope our children continue to participate in such meaningful programs. Valuing Nature in Childhood program for nearly 6000 children in 3 years.

As part of the one-day workshop, participants were able to experience the playground for children from 5 to 10 years old, which is soon completed construction at the area next to Mac lake. The playground is expected to be included in the future children's one-day experience program, so that they have more space for movement, physical and intellectual development. The afternoon program, in addition to visiting the Carnivore and Pangolin Education Center, was extended for delegates to visit two other rescue centers of Cuc Phuong National Park, the Endangered Primate Rescue Center and Turtle Conservation Center. The extended program is designed according to the School Board suggestion, that teachers want their children to visit many centers and see more wild animals. Therefore, the nature experience program for children in the future will include more interesting and useful activities for children to learn more about many wonderful animals of Vietnam.

The SVW Center expects to have the consent of parents and the school soon, unifying the specific plan for the "Valuing Nature in Childhood" Program to continue to operate, bringing the opportunity to experience nature, cultivate nature love for children throughout Vietnam.
