In his opening remarks, Ambassador Vu Trung My highlighted the glorious milestones of the Vietnam People's Army, the core force of the Vietnam People's Armed Forces, a military force that emerged from the people and serves the people, always ready to fight and sacrifice "for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism, and for the happiness of the people". The predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) was the Vietnam Propaganda Unit of Liberation Army, the first main force army established on December 22, 1944, following the directive of President Ho Chi Minh.

Expressing great pride in the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, Ambassador Vu Trung My emphasized that throughout 80 years of building, fighting, and growing, the Vietnam People's Army has always been the core force, together with the entire Party and people of Vietnam, in achieving brilliant victories in the struggle for national liberation, independence, freedom, and reunification, as well as in building and defending the country.

Speaking at the event, Colonel Richard Ruiz Álvarez, IESEOFANB deputy director, expressed his admiration for the great achievements of the Vietnam People's Army in the resistance wars against foreign invaders and in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Mentioning the VPA’s achievements, he praised the role and contributions of the legendary General Vo Nguyen Giap, an excellent disciple of President Ho Chi Minh and the first commander of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army Unit. In addition, the general made great contributions to the formation and development of Vietnam's military doctrine, which is the people's war strategy, using justice to defeat brutality.
