Jan Batosek said that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic is recognized by the Czech government an ethnic group. This is a testament to the relations and political trust between the two countries. Vietnamese citizens who have been studying and working in the Czech Republic are the bridge to promote people-to-people exchanges in many fields, creating a premise for the two sides to develop their relations.

According to Jan Batosek, Vietnam is a beautiful country with rich resources, a long coastline, and a diverse cuisine. Vietnamese people are friendly and hospitable, many of whom can speak Czech. Therefore, Vietnam has an increasing attraction to Czech citizens.

To enhance people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, Jan Batosek hoped Vietnam to facilitate short-term visa exemption for Czechs who want to visit, study or work in Vietnam. He also mentioned the need of direct flights between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Jan Batosek addressed a plan to establish a Czech cultural center in Hanoi in 2023. The center will hold activities to promote Czech culture, teach Czech language. Through those activities, more Vietnamese will know and love Czech culture, thereby enhancing the connection and cooperation between the two peoples.

Batosek said the two countries had ample potential to promote cooperation, especially in agriculture, defense industry, energy, and environmental protection.

For her part, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga said that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Czech Republic was established over 70 years ago and had been preserved and cultivated by the governments and peoples of the two countries. The relations have been developing on the basis of deep mutual understanding, high respect and trust, mutual support in both difficult and favorable times.

“The relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic is not only between the two States and the two Governments, but also between the two peoples. Many Vietnamese who studied and worked in the Czech Republic have now become managers, making great contributions to the cause of national construction and development, "said Nguyen Phuong Nga.

VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga thanked the Czech Government for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to adapt and settle in the Czech Republic. She appreciated that the Vietnamese was recognized as the 14th ethnic group in the Czech Republic.

President Nguyen Phuong Nga said that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, consisting of more than 100,000 people, not only brings rich and diverse cultural nuances, contributes to the socio-economic development of the host country, but also builds a bridge to promote economic cooperation, cultural exchange, increase tourism between the two countries.

Nguyen Phuong Nga supported Jan Batosek's plan on enhancing cultural exchanges between the two countries and establishing a Czech Cultural Center in Vietnam.

Nguyen Phuong Nga said that the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Czech Friendship Association have held many friendship, cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. The annual activities of the Vietnam - Czech Friendship Association are organized in a variety of ways such as friendship exchanges and sports competitions of tennis, golf, football between its executive committe and officials of the Czech embassy in Vietnam. It also holds annual meeting of alumni, PhD students, interns with the participation of the Czech Ambassador and Czech friends. The association has a Vietnamese-Czech language and culture exchange center, Bohemia Club that organizes cultural and literary exchange activities, and classes on cooking Czech food.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga affirmed that VUFO and the Vietnam - Czech Friendship Association will contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two peoples and promoting cooperation in all fields between the two countries.
